'Simply Imagine' by Whimsicals

After talking to Terri D, the designer of Whimsical fabrics for Red Rooster, at Quilt Market this spring I came home and ordered the entire line.  She said she has 'gone to the dark side' in creating deeper, darker teals in this line.
I love fabrics with words, especially words of creativity and inspiration.  Here is the pile of 25 bolts-http://www.redroosterfabrics.com
For some reason it won't let me post photos.  If you go to Red Rooster, choose Current Collections and turn to page 2.  You will find the line there.  I will keep working on adding photos here......

Sitting Pretty

Finally the iPad has a pretty home.  The fabric is 'LaScala' by Robert Kaufman and the pattern is 'Sitting Pretty' by 'Among Brenda's Quilts'.  I used the hardboard by Innovative Craft Products but there a similar product available by Bosal.  Both brands are stiffer than Peltex or Timtex.  You wouldn't be able to use cardboard as you need to sew through it but if you are creative and have a heavy duty machine with fusible thread there are possibilities.
I thought it is professional looking in the fancier fabrics.  The elastic tablet holders are in two colours because I got a package of hairbands from the dollar store and thought one was enough.  It took two but I like both colours so decided to be colourful rather than make a trip for another package.

Full outside cover with flash so the colours are lighter than actual

Clearing Out

We have been sorting and marking down old stock.  Today is 50% off old notions like needlefelting tools, fabric markers and the few silk ribbon pieces.
We have been adding to the sale fabric bundles, six half metre cuts for $10.
Ends of fabric fat quarters are 8 for $10.
That means there is tons of new fabric, notions and patterns arriving.

Swoosh, that was summer flying by.  I can't believe it is almost fall!

Stonehenge Oh Canada and Breast Cancer

Three new lines of Stonehenge arrived yesterday.  Here are the first two:

This is 'Oh Canada'.  We received all but not the one with the moose and maple leaves.  The black is hiding in the background.  Northcott.net has some ideas for quilts.  Tote bags and pillowcases seem to be the most popular items.  Fortunately there are lots of free maple leaf 9-patch blocks patterns online.  Make four blocks for a table runner or table topper (square).

This is 'Pink Ribbon'.  There is a free pattern on the Northcott website.  It includes a quilt top, pillowcase and apron pattern.  All good ideas for fundraising donations.  We think these 2 of Brenda's patterns would work well.  The 'Totally Twisted Pillow' is quick to make.  Hopefully we can make a sample and kits before it is gone.  The 'Tie A Ribbon' bag features a ribbon bow making it ideal for featuring the fabric.  We need a sample of this one too.

Anniversary Sale

The store became ours on July 24, 2004.  It has been 8 years now!  So that means it's time for a sale!

Anniversary Sale
Monday July 23 to Saturday July 28
10 am to 5 pm each day
30% off all regular priced merchandise

Things to know about the sale:

We might not have the time to help you select fabric for a quilt.
Please bring quilts for quilting before or after the sale week.  It is too difficult to find a place to lay the quilt out for measuring and choosing thread colour.
Bring patience!  We are small and try to work quickly but it can be challenging.
I try to be open at 9 am the first day for those who cannot wait until 10 am or who have a shopping list.

New At the Store

Me!!  I am at the store most of the time now.  Shows and workshops are finished for me for the spring.  Now it's time to get caught up with news and events.
We are working on samples for the 'Yours To Discover Shop Hop'.  Thanks to a supplier, Contemporary Sewing Materials out west, we have trillium batiks for the shop hop.  These batiks come in four colourways and are exclusive to the 10 hop shops until the end of July.  If you want to have some set aside for you, email me and I will let you know when they are available.  The samples are almost done so I will do a photo blog early next week.

Zippers arrived today.  These are 14" and from Atkinson Designs.  There are 36 colours to co-ordinate with your projects.  The 22" zippers are on their way.
